Hang In There By Maxine Cartoon

Hello and thanks to all participants! It is certainly not easy to select 20 images over 600 photos, so I tried to find a rational choice to organize.
In the first instance I have seen all the pictures without too much pause to choose a general idea of what kind of product.
After one day I repeated the operation, scartando le fotografie che mi convincevano meno.
A presto.

Images of architecture in the world 08: Tokyo is closer

Scatti inediti e particolari, di luoghi di grandissimo interesse architettonico, sono ritratti nelle fifty images selected for the competition Travel Photography of Architecture, "Images of Architecture 08 " now in its second edition. The jury to work for more than ten days, led to a job of skimming to select, among the 650 images, the ones most deserving can tell, in an innovative way, spaces and places of architectural interest. Among the different opinions of the jurors, it appears that convergence to the recognition of images where the architecture plays a major role, compared to the quality of the shot itself, and the effects played by the lights and shadows. The final verdict will be announced in late January. The winner of the photo competition will fly to Tokyo and in the safe hands of Hotel Plan, sponsor of the contest, stay for 5 days and 4 nights in a hotel of the tour operator.

Does Bonjela Once Work?

we're almost there ...

we are working with great effort, to reduce the number of shots from 650 to 50. The work is very difficult for us to 5 (and I must say that our opinions are so different from each other).
As beautiful and evocative images, the appearance of 'architecture' for some is secondary to effects / shadows / etc.
There are so many beautiful shots, with images of great emotion and certainly of great quality, but where the 'architecture' is unfortunately unrecognizable.
Personally I am very drawn to animated pictures of people, with people moving images, making the idea of communication and interaction with spaces and I know that I have personally experienced.
for the weekend put on line the 50 semifinalists ... watch this space ....

A contest closed ... Here

We have closed the collection of pictures with about 650 pictures in the race . I must say that the level is in general is very high. Participated mainly architects, many students, some professionals and many amateurs. Entries came from all over Italy 'and also by several Italians living abroad.
The most photographed sites remain, as for the previous edition: the science city of Valencia, the Jewish Museum in Berlin and the German Pavilion in Barcelona by Mies. I am glad to note that often these places per se 'photogenic' have been interpreted with shots and unexpected angles from affiliates less. As a member of the jury I'm looking for this ... your personal vision of architecture, the way you interact, understand and convey the buildings portraits. We

jury members have training and how to interpret the images are very different, but we share the relatively young age and our love for architecture. In the coming weeks we will select the images up to reduce them to 50 semifinalists and then, all'inizio di gennaio, un solo fortunato (ma senz'altro un bravissimo fortunato....) sarà nominato vincitore assoluto e partirà per Tokyo.

A presto, Mikaela.

What Makeup Brushes Are Used For What

MADRID, MADRID

Saturday, October 18.

The guided tour to the outskirts of the town starts from the very site of the Cuatro Torres, aligned north end of the Castellana and still under construction. The works were completed, probably in spring of 2009, they rascacielos alter forever the skyline of the city.
In general, it can emphasize the separation between the more formal approach and creative of the two large American studies (Cesar Pelli, Pei, Cobb, Freed & Partners, offering complex geometric shapes, obtained by cuts and rotations) and the more typological pragmatic and European projects (Alvarez y Sala, Norman Foster).

continue east, towards Sanchinarro.
Here, in a sign of poor and anonymous, the Dutch MRDRV have created a "superblock" residential or parallelepiped tower features a lively patchwork in the outer covering and a huge central hole, designed as mirador the cityscape.
A sheet hung from a window, in part, reads:
"balconies for drying clothes? No, just design."

The journey continues to the south.
several requests, Sergio sudden an interesting keynote on the themes of the skyscraper and the city gate. Meanwhile
arrive at your destination, or the suburb of Villaverde, where with little effort, we find the residential complex of Chipperfield. The composition of the free
full of prefabricated panels covering the earthy colors and voids of glass windows help to defuse the compactness of this huge monolith.

A lady, probably a tenant of the building in question passes in front of our group, shakes his head and says,
"This building an es mierda!"
We were just wondering, stimulated by Sergio on this point, because often the things that appeal to architects do not like ordinary people ...

setting interventions Carabanchel of housing designed by different architects local (Aranguren y Gallegos; Madridejos Ochinaga y; Albarola y Martorell, Foreign Office), differs instead for an approach essentially a function and a greater focus on the urban scale.

Our tour ends in the district of Usera, where the Public Library José Hierro shows, cryptic and impenetrable, like an urban sculpture.
After a little shopping area in the late afternoon of Puerta del Sol, the event is all set for the dinner at the Ene Restaurante, Calle del Nuncio in La Latina. Here, on our comfortable chairs designed by Charles, one of the great designers of the tradition of our country, we taste of tuna and ternera solomillo. Someone on the ground floor, eat lying on a kind of tatami, and fatigue prende il sopravvento: Margherita, nove anni, si addormenta dopo le prime portate.

MADRID, 03

Domenica 19 ottobre

L'autobus ci lascia in Glorieta Puerta de Toledo, teatro di un progetto di riqualificazione ad opera di Navarro Baldeweg, il quale sottolinea il carattere pubblico e istituzionale new products (a community center, a senior center, library) elevated by a pedestal of gray granite that defines the northern edge of the square and find a kind of small acropolis.
Here begins our tour through the major contemporary interventions made in the old center.
Then we walk the narrow winding alleys of the neighborhoods of El Rastro, where every Sunday morning as there is a flea market, and the barrio of Lavapies, where we can appreciate the redevelopment of the Plaza Lara (Linazasoro) and the new Olympia Theatre (Paredes Pedrosa y).
The next stop is the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, recently expanded by the addition of Jean Nouvel volume of a triangular cantilever roof surmounted by an imposing red shiny metal. Overall, the prospect is not very convincing to Atocha, while the extraordinary large courtyard that has been created between the volume and the new palace, or a real square blanket that is a real piece of city.

cross the road to get to the Atocha station, designed by Moneo, where the most important elements of the composition of the lantern are cylindrical and parallelepiped clock tower. Always
Moneo is responsible for the enlargement of the Prado Museum. Although you must keep the immense difficulties inherent in the project, the feeling is that the great English painter in this case is not a fair amount of courage and boldness.
courage and boldness but that does not lack for Herzog & de Meuron. The two extraordinary
Swiss architects have recently converted a former factory into a multi-cultural center (Caixa Forum) by means of a daring work of subtraction (in fact they have eliminated the base of solid granite) and subsequent addition (the people raising with an irregular rectangular steel courtain).

The most extraordinary aspect is structural, we are in ten or twenty architects and engineers and we are all there, waiting patiently to get in queue to ask how do you feel about ...
After a good paella at the restaurant of the Caixa, which we view from a little disappointed at the lack of attention to detail, is only time for a quick foray into one of the great museums of the city.

Thanks to Mikaela, in Clare, to John and all the fellow travelers of the College of Architects of Monza.

La passeggiata nel centro storico di Madrid procede dunque senza intoppi: la meravigliosa Plaza Mayor, capolavoro dell'urbanistica seicentesca spagnola, the Plaza de la Villa, the Almudena and the Palacio Real - sumptuous Baroque work of the Italians and Juvarra bags - and finally the Callao and Gran Via, lined with fine old buildings fin-de-siecle.
Here the group was disbanded. Some of us continue until the elegant Circle of Fine Arts, designed by Palacios in his early twenties, one of the best examples of Madrid of the century, and then dine in one of the oldest in Madrid, the Hlardy located near the Puerta del Sol, between slender cast iron columns, old creaky wooden floors and walls painted in warm colors and crisp.

Our first day was spun off smooth, despite my fears to board an Alitalia flight just venerdì 17...

For this reason, the people of Madrid considered the true river of the city, since the Manzanares is, however, in a secluded and not very strategic.
In the afternoon we finally got off the bus to stretch our legs and enjoy some tapas at Café Teatriz, a stylish restaurant created by Philippe Starck in an old theater to see the Girasol building, one of the most famous of Coderch, and ending with a visit to the Santiago Bernabeu, one of the temples of world football, recently renovated dall'Estudio Lamela.

According to recent statistics it is the Bernabeu, and not the Prado, the most visited monument of the English capital ...

Warbird Parts For Sale

first stage of renovation of the beautiful trip organized by Piacenza 74 and architectural tours, and was Zaragoza.
"Water and Sustainable Development" is the theme that has allowed the English city to win the bid to host Expo 2008, the international exposure that will attract more than 7 million visitors in the capital of Aragon.
The Expo exhibition area covers an area of 25 hectares, an actual "town" surrounded the Parque del Agua, about two kilometers from the city center and only 700 meters the new high speed train station, which is connected by an elevated cable car.
innovative service with a skyline and the futuristic new super-fast rail links have become a symbol of the new Spain.
The works were inspired by the theme of water and its importance in the ecosystem of the city of the future, with particular attention to the fight against waste and energy saving. The architects have tried to explore its many facets, presenting large-impact projects.

The Water Tower

symbol and heart of the event is "Water Tower" building up the crystal and designed by Enrique de 76metri Tersa, from which you can see the whole park of the Expo and the works (still incomplete) redevelopment of the river Ebro, featuring waterfalls for whitewater rafting, botanical gardens, canals rough water parks and sensory.

Bridge Pavilion by Zaha Hadid

Other striking elements is the Bridge Pavilion, which connects the station to the main entrance of the fair, a bit of a work of Zaha Hadid. The covered bridge, as well merge the two banks of the Ebro, serves as exhibition space (over 7000 square meters) long that envelops the usual zig-zag pattern (260 m).

They collect and conserve water at a constant temperature, then spray into the lower area of the porch, refreshing spaces. The sheet of water crossed by wooden walkways boards emphasizes the reference to a bamboo reed.
Less convincing is the pavilion of the region of Aragon seemed inspired by the traditional local craft the plot of the baskets, in which case the reference to the theme of water is also non-existent.
The first university in the future will host the second seat of the municipal offices.

Hall Aragon
