Hang In There By Maxine Cartoon
Hello and thanks to all participants! It is certainly not easy to select 20 images over 600 photos, so I tried to find a rational choice to organize.
In the first instance I have seen all the pictures without too much pause to choose a general idea of \u200b\u200bwhat kind of product.
After one day I repeated the operation, scartando le fotografie che mi convincevano meno. Quindi attraverso un criterio forse un pò empirico basato sull'eliminazione delle immagini a mio avviso meno interessanti, ho ridotto il numero a circa 400 foto.
Dopo questa prima selezione ho diviso le immagini in 5 grandi gruppi: foto con soggetti riflessi, foto con dettaglio astratto, immagini con movimento, immagini simboliche, immagini panoramiche. Per ogni gruppo ho selezionato da 10 a 20 immagini.
Ho eseguito poi a distanza di un paio di giorni una sorta di "ripescaggio" tra le immagini scartate in prima battuta, rimettendo in gioco circa una decina di fotografie.
Ora con queste immagini risultanti ho cominciato ad attribuire dei punteggi: da 1 a 5 punti per luce e tecnica. da 1 a 5 punti per soggetto inquadrato. da 1 a 5 per effetto emozionale . Ho ripetuto l'attribuzione dei punteggi due volte e a distanza di un paio di giorni in modo da poter essere più obbiettivo possibile.
Per ogni gruppo ho quindi estrapolato le 4 immagini con il punteggio più alto, arrivando alle 20 richieste.
Per ora è tutto e non mi resta che dire: in bocca al lupo ai finalisti!

Per chi non l'avesse letta, è stata pubblicata la scorsa settimana, sul portale di Viaggi di Architettura la news sulle foto arrivate in semifinale.
Scatti inediti e particolari, di luoghi di grandissimo interesse architettonico, sono ritratti nelle fifty images selected for the competition Travel Photography of Architecture, "Images of Architecture 08 " now in its second edition. The jury to work for more than ten days, led to a job of skimming to select, among the 650 images, the ones most deserving can tell, in an innovative way, spaces and places of architectural interest. Among the different opinions of the jurors, it appears that convergence to the recognition of images where the architecture plays a major role, compared to the quality of the shot itself, and the effects played by the lights and shadows. The final verdict will be announced in late January. The winner of the photo competition will fly to Tokyo and in the safe hands of Hotel Plan, sponsor of the contest, stay for 5 days and 4 nights in a hotel of the tour operator.

we're almost there ...
we are working with great effort, to reduce the number of shots from 650 to 50. The work is very difficult for us to 5 (and I must say that our opinions are so different from each other).
As beautiful and evocative images, the appearance of 'architecture' for some is secondary to effects / shadows / etc.
There are so many beautiful shots, with images of great emotion and certainly of great quality, but where the 'architecture' is unfortunately unrecognizable.
Personally I am very drawn to animated pictures of people, with people moving images, making the idea of \u200b\u200bcommunication and interaction with spaces and I know that I have personally experienced.
for the weekend put on line the 50 semifinalists ... watch this space ....

We have closed the collection of pictures with about 650 pictures in the race . I must say that the level is in general is very high. Participated mainly architects, many students, some professionals and many amateurs. Entries came from all over Italy 'and also by several Italians living abroad.
The most photographed sites remain, as for the previous edition: the science city of Valencia, the Jewish Museum in Berlin and the German Pavilion in Barcelona by Mies. I am glad to note that often these places per se 'photogenic' have been interpreted with shots and unexpected angles from affiliates less. As a member of the jury I'm looking for this ... your personal vision of architecture, the way you interact, understand and convey the buildings portraits. We
jury members have training and how to interpret the images are very different, but we share the relatively young age and our love for architecture. In the coming weeks we will select the images up to reduce them to 50 semifinalists and then, all'inizio di gennaio, un solo fortunato (ma senz'altro un bravissimo fortunato....) sarà nominato vincitore assoluto e partirà per Tokyo. Sono entusiata di avere come partner dell'edizione '08 Hotelplan , che ci fornisce i servizi a Tokyo per il vincitore del primo premio. Un grazie enorme quindi a Hotelplan e a tutti voi di esservi messi in gioco.

Laureato al Politecnico di Milano nel 1995,nel 1999 ha aperto un proprio studio professionale a Piacenza. All’attività progettuale, caratterizzata dalla partecipazione a numerosi concorsi nazionali e internazionali,affianca quella di
ricerca; attualmente è tutor presso la cattedra di Progettazione architettonica al Politecnico di Milano.
Per la collana Universale di Architettura - sezione Guide alle città - ha curato il volume “Basilea. La tradizione del moderno” (Testo & Immagine, 2002).

Someone on the ground floor, eat lying on a kind of tatami, and fatigue prende il sopravvento: Margherita, nove anni, si addormenta dopo le prime portate. La piccola Cecilia, invece, stasera non ce l'ha fatta ed è già in albergo a riposare.

L'autobus ci lascia in Glorieta Puerta de Toledo, teatro di un progetto di riqualificazione ad opera di Navarro Baldeweg, il quale sottolinea il carattere pubblico e istituzionale new products (a community center, a senior center, library) elevated by a pedestal of gray granite that defines the northern edge of the square and find a kind of small acropolis.
Here begins our tour through the major contemporary interventions made in the old center.
Then we walk the narrow winding alleys of the neighborhoods of El Rastro, where every Sunday morning as there is a flea market, and the barrio of Lavapies, where we can appreciate the redevelopment of the Plaza Lara (Linazasoro) and the new Olympia Theatre (Paredes Pedrosa y).
The next stop is the Centro de Arte Reina Sofia, recently expanded by the addition of Jean Nouvel volume of a triangular cantilever roof surmounted by an imposing red shiny metal. Overall, the prospect is not very convincing to Atocha, while the extraordinary large courtyard that has been created between the volume and the new palace, or a real square blanket that is a real piece of city.

Piove anche a Madrid, chi l'avrebbe mai detto?
L'acqua inizia a scrosciare proprio nel momento in cui l'autobus lascia il nostro gruppo in Calle Mayor, ma dura assai poco, giusto il tempo per scatenarci nella ressa alla ricerca di un paraagua portatile nei negozietti di chincaglieria gestiti dai cinesi.
La passeggiata nel centro storico di Madrid procede dunque senza intoppi: la meravigliosa Plaza Mayor, capolavoro dell'urbanistica seicentesca spagnola, the Plaza de la Villa, the Almudena and the Palacio Real - sumptuous Baroque work of the Italians and Juvarra bags - and finally the Callao and Gran Via, lined with fine old buildings fin-de-siecle.
Here the group was disbanded. Some of us continue until the elegant Circle of Fine Arts, designed by Palacios in his early twenties, one of the best examples of Madrid of the century, and then dine in one of the oldest in Madrid, the Hlardy located near the Puerta del Sol, between slender cast iron columns, old creaky wooden floors and walls painted in warm colors and crisp.
Our first day was spun off smooth, despite my fears to board an Alitalia flight just venerdì 17...
Al nostro arrivo all'aeroporto di Barajas, poco dopo le undici, abbiamo trovato ad attenderci Mikaela e l'autista che, senza perdere tempo, ci ha accompagnato in una prima ricognizione della città, in particolare della zona immediatamente a nord-est del nucleo storico, gravitante attorno al Paseo de la Castellana (le Torres Blancas e il Banco de Bilbao di Sainz de Oiza, l'Hotel Puerta America di Nouvel e altri, le KIO Torres a Puerta Europa di Philip Johnson e Burgee & Ass.)
La Castellana è l'arteria principale della città, la taglia tutta da nord a sud: essa costituisce da sempre, almeno dalla metà del XIX secolo in poi, la sua colonna vertebrale. In the afternoon we finally got off the bus to stretch our legs and enjoy some tapas at Café Teatriz, a stylish restaurant created by Philippe Starck in an old theater to see the Girasol building, one of the most famous of Coderch, and ending with a visit to the Santiago Bernabeu, one of the temples of world football, recently renovated dall'Estudio Lamela.
According to recent statistics it is the Bernabeu, and not the Prado, the most visited monument of the English capital ...

Bridge Pavilion by Zaha Hadid
Other striking elements is the Bridge Pavilion, which connects the station to the main entrance of the fair, a bit of a work of Zaha Hadid. The covered bridge, as well merge the two banks of the Ebro, serves as exhibition space (over 7000 square meters) long that envelops the usual zig-zag pattern (260 m).

Sulla grande piazza di ingresso si affaccia il Centro Congressi, opera dei bravi architetti madrileni Nieto&Sobejano, e si apre la promenade principale, coperta da una tensostruttura e attraversata da una sequenza interminabile di passerelle sospese, che distribuisce la maggior parte degli spazi espositivi.
Due vedute del padiglione spagnolo
Dal punto di vista architettonico, il padiglione più interessante è certamente quello spagnolo, opera di Mangado. Una grande piastra trapezoidale è sorretta da un'autentica selva di colonne fluted brick, arranged in multiple files at variable distance.
